The Trio Bola Preta emerged in 2011 in The Netherlands, from the meeting of three musicians with different backgrounds, who cultivate the same passion for Choro and Brazilian music. The trio is currently composed by Mariana Bruekers (Brazil) on Flute and Francisco Medina (Portugal) in the 7-string Guitar and Natália Mitre (Brazil) on the percussion. The sound of the trio combines the musicians' different influences with other rhythms and music genres such as Fado, Salsa, Tango and Baião in arrangements of Choro classic's and own compositions. 

The Trio Bola Preta recorded in July 2014 their first album, SAIDEIRA. This album has 10 own compositions and it has been released in several American and European cities such as Oporto and Lisbon (Portugal); The Hague, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Breda (The Netherlands); London (UK); Paris (France); NY (USA); Belo Horizonte, Diamantina, Ouro Preto and São João del-Rei (Brazil).

Mariana Bruekers (Brazil) graduated in Flute and Music Education at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). In 2013 she concluded her masters degree in Music Education at The Hague’s Royal Conservatoire, in The Netherlands. In addition to participating in several groups of different musical genres, Mariana recorded the CD "Geraes Big Band" with the group of the same name, in 2010; the CD “Flutuar no Horizonte” with Flutuar Flute Orchestra, in 2011; and the CD “Saideira” with Trio Bola Preta, in 2014. Mariana Bruekers has a great deal of experience with music education, teaching in schools, projects and festivals since 2007. Currently she teaches flute and music initiation for children (developing a unique brazilian music project for children) at the Escola Portátil de Música Holanda, in Roterdam.

Francisco Medina (Portugal) concluded in 2008 the course of Jazz guitar at The Hague’s Royal Conservatoire, in The Netherlands. In recent years he has participated in many musical projects of different styles such as Brazilian music, Jazz, Fado, Pop and Funk among others; renowned venues and festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival, The Hague Jazz, Theater aan Het Spui and the Bimhuis. Besides the Trio Bola Preta Francisco is also a member of the group ti-an-guis (with whom he recorded their first album “ti-an-guis, in 2013);  performs with the group Los Paja Brava;   participated in the album "Free to Be" from the rapper Jon Tarifa playing Cavaco, in 2013; and the album “Saideira” with the Trio Bola Preta in 2014. It was in The Netherlands that he discovered and fell in love with Choro and the 7-strings guitar, to which he devotes much of his study time. Apart from his activities as a musician he also teaches at several music schools including the Escola Portátil de Música Holanda, in Roterdam.
